This assemblage explores the potential of reclaimed building materials—concrete masonry units, brick, and glass block—stacked and composed in a bricolage method. Rather than following conventional masonry logic, the arrangement imagines an improvisational form of wall construction. The juxtaposition of opaque and translucent materials, varied textures, and mismatched scales raises questions about how discarded building fragments might be reconsidered and recombined into new tectonic systems—walls that carry both material memory and formal invention.
To document the assemblage, a ghosted drawing technique was employed—layering material outlines so that each component remains visible through the next, dissolving the opacity that would otherwise separate one material from another. Rather than depicting the stack as a solid, legible object, the representation embraces transparency and overlap, allowing brick, block, and glass to coexist in the same visual field simultaneously. This see-through quality mirrors the translucent nature of the glass block itself while extending that logic across all materials, collapsing depth and surface into a single, superimposed image. The result is a drawing that feels less like a record of a physical object and more like an excavation of it—revealing the system of assembly beneath.
